Bio

I've been writing (plays, poetry, essays, grocery lists, postcards and love letters) since I was a little Velvet. At age twenty-one I discovered by accident that I could sing. Ten years later I decided to meld the two talents so that I could become one of the millions of singer/songwriters worldwide seeking your affections.

Mox @ #Nine

I've played and sung in dozens of bands, including the way-cool Mocking Birds.

"A mix of tasty licks, lazy bones riffs and energetic rock 'n' roll... presence and personality honed by years of bar room gigs."

-Fran Fried, New Haven Register

The Mox rocked New Haven, CT for twelve good years. We played stages large and small, opened for some big names, and recorded lots of my original material (see 'Albums' page.) We were famous around town for our residency at cafe nine, The Musicians' Living Room. We performed there on the last Saturday night of every month from April '92 to December '03.

We still get love letters.

I play bass, sing, and write songs in The Ivory Bills. Just to keep things confusing, my pal Johnny Java, who played bass in The Mocking Birds (I played rhythm), plays drums in the I. B's. We're joined by the talented guitarist John-El, and we make a good racket. Check us out at a gig.

"...equally comfortable with a sweet sounding acoustic or a nasty telecaster."

-Frank Critelli, CTMusic.com

I've long enjoyed playing solo or duo shows in coffee houses, art galleries, living rooms and the like. These days, I'm playing most of these acoustic-style gigs accompanied by Johnny Memphis on guitar and violin. We're known as The Lonesome Sparrows. We love to play at the many City Seed Farm Markets in New Haven.

So, I play in two bands with three guys named Johnny. Pretty cool. I can sing, "Take it, Johnny" at any time in either band, and know I'm covered. It rocks.
