Credits/Backstory:

This track was produced by Dean Falcone & Greg DiCrosta at TNA studios in late ’05.
Dean plays electric guitars and sings harmony, Jon Peckman makes drum sounds, Johnny Java bassifies superbly, Beatnik Ed Leanord beats the conga drum, and I do my usual rhythm guitar & vocals routine.
We can’t play this track in The Ivory Bills, because Johnny’s bass part is way too hot for me to handle.
Like last month’s S.O.T.M. “Castles Made Of Sand,” this one would do well on an album titled, “A Little Evanescence Goes A Long Way”

Check back at the beginning of each and every month for a new, free!, downloadable mp3 posting of unreleased (up ‘til now) Velvet material. Some rare and unusual tunes. Collect the whole set! After a year you will have enough files to craft into the ancient “Album” form.

Lyrics:

Your angry smile showed on my kitchen wall again
your crazy eyes were dancing ‘round my door
I don’t know why and I don’t know how
but you’re all gone now, a trick of the light
you’re all gone, a trick of the light.

Your cool “good luck”
still echoes in my telephone
the note you wrote is a ghost on my windshield
I don’t know why and I don’t know how
but you’re all gone now, a trick of the light
you’re all gone, a trick of the light.

Late last night in the candle’s glow
you sat at my table easy and slow
we sang together heart to heart
just as tho’ we’d never drifted apart.

Summer evenings your silver van
rolls down my street
I’m never sure but I believe I see you wave to me
I don’t know why and I don’t know how
but you’re all gone now, a trick of the light
you’re all gone, a trick of the light.

A trick of the light. . .
