Credits/Backstory:

Back in the ’80’s my fellow Lonesome Sparrow, Johnny Memphis, and I were known as The New Haven Radiators. We played the State Street circuit frequently.
We wrote this song together, nose to nose, and recorded it at River Street Studios, a very cool demo studio of the time run by Glen Gallo and Don Comeau, and frequented by such local notables as Stevo, Mark Mulcahy and Jon Brion.
Mikey Reynolds, left-handed to the core, plays drums. We knew him ‘cause he played in The Geardads, with Johnny Java and John El. Andy Jarcho plays sax. (These guys can also be heard on the “Local Bands!” theme song.)
The tune was mixed very nicely (we were up to 8 trax by then!) by A.J. Gundell.
Live, as a duo, Johnny played the hi-hat and electric guitar. I played bass.

Lyrics:

Me and my girl drive the car
drive too fast, drive too far
see the sun shine the hood
makes me and my girl feel so good
we sing yeah yeah, yeah yeah, we sing
we sing yeah yeah, yeah yeah, we sing yeah. . .

Me and my girl walkin’ around
no place special, walk downtown
plate-glass window couple holdin’ hands
makes me and my girl feel so grand
we sing yeah yeah, yeah yeah, we sing
we sing yeah yeah, yeah yeah, we sing yeah. . .

Well think what you may, think what you might
but my baby and me will be together tonight
time may come and things might pass
but me and my girl, we’re gonna last.

Me and my girl far apart
it’s not a matter of miles, it’s just restless hearts
day after night after day after night
have to keep on movin’ gonna be alright
we sing yeah yeah, yeah yeah, we sing
we sing yeah yeah, yeah yeah, we sing yeah. . .

Me and my girl. . .
