On, On & On

A poor little rich girl standing alone
in an old photograph from her family home
her momma looks weak and her daddy is cold
she’s got no one to hold.

She’s got a pretty pink dress and golden hair
ribbons and bows and a far-away stare
she is reaching her arms out to empty air
she’s got no one to hold.

Here’s Mr. Wonderful, strong and warm
holding her tenderly in his arms
her smile is soft like the morning sky
she’s got beautiful eyes.

Old, cold dad says - He will not do,
he’s not like us, he’s not for you
you must find someone else, one of our kind
you must leave him behind.

She looks lovely in white, he stands tall and true
she sheds a tear when she says - I do -
her momma and daddy are not in sight
she must leave them behind.

Forever young, eternally bold
baby boys on their hips, a brave story told
side by side, hand in hand
they live on, on and on
on, on and on
forever young, eternally bold
they live on, on and on
on, on and on......
