My Blue Boat

My blue boat is blue like the sky
it’s blue like the ocean
sailing around in my blue boat
gives a heavenly motion.

My blue boat is tied in the bay
it bobs all night and it sways all day
all around the cove or headed out to sea
my blue boat is a sight to see
my blue boat.

My blue boat found a red-haired girl
dancin’ down the sand in a bare-foot twirl
half afloat and half ashore
she raised her hem when she stepped on board
my blue boat.

My blue boat sailed out to sea
with my red-haired girl and lucky old me
all night long we rode the tide
the full moon shone its diamond shine
around my blue boat.

When the new dawn broke the eastern sky
my red-haired girl kissed me goodbye
two miles out we were tied to a float
when she slid overboard my blue boat
the blood-red sea embraced her soft
like a newborn babe as she swam off
her butterfly arms were silver and pale
the last I saw, was a waving tail...

Every day at break of dawn
I search the coast all year long
I have no woman, I’ll take no wife
that red-haired girl got me for life
on my blue boat.

My blue boat is blue like the sky
it’s blue like the ocean
sailing around in my blue boat
gives a heavenly motion.
