Lazy Me

Brick by brick a wall is built
and then the wall cames tumbling down
people run around, around
and then they run
right into the ground
Lazy me
I'm dreamin' my life away.

Word by word we learn to talk
and then we talk right over our heads
step by step we learn to walk
and then we walk
right over the edge
Lazy me
I'm dreamin' my life away.

When I'm down in my cups
I fool myself and I look up
I take no joy from smoke-filled skies
I fall right back and close my eyes.

All day long we fuss and fight
come the night we try to forget
dust to dust
and ash to ash
in the end
that's what you get.
Lazy me
I'm dreamin' my life away.
