Credits/Backstory:

This song is supposed to sound this way. The Mocking Birds recorded by Vic Steffens while we sat in a small circle with some overhead mics. — Johnny Java stomps his foot and plays electric bass; Jon Peckman hits objects in rhythm; Dick Neal plays dobro and e-bow guitar; I sing and strum.
I like how it came out, but not everybody does.

Lyrics:

This blues
lives inside me every day
this blues
seems I can’t make it go away
this blues broke into my dreams
and it brags about being here to stay.

This blues keeps me angry
I feel explosions in my head
this blues brought me sorrow
and I’m terrified with dread
this blues cut into my heart
it laughed, and left me here for dead.

Outside my window the world is blue and bright
sun’s in the sky
outside my window, another cool September night
time passing by
the trees are starting to get a little glow
and pretty girls still come and go.
(I’m in here with this blues)

This blues
wants to keep me on my knees
this blues
it’s a power hungry thief
I’m gonna reach out for your good love
I’m gonna hold on tight, I’m gonna work and pray
every day for peace.
Work for peace.
Gonna beat this blues.
