Credits/Backstory:

This song was recorded a couple of years ago by Greg DiCrosta at TNA. It features the same line-up of goof-ball greats that played so nice on July’s SOTM, “Trick Of The Light”. Dean Falcone, electric guitars, Johnny Java, bass, Jon Peckman, drums, Beatnik Ed Leonard on Conga drum, and me, JV, on acoustic guitars, vocals and wheezy desk-top harmonium.
This is the only pop tune I know of with a paraphrase of a Eudora Welty text, although surely there must be others.

Lyrics:

I come here on my own today
I might walk and I might pray
but when these autumn skies turn gray
I want to spend my time with you
spend my time with you.

I still recall one summer eve
with new magnolia on the breeze
you came to me in desperate need
I pulled away just out of reach
now I’m down on my knees
I need to spend my time with you
spend my time with you.

Time is the thread of revelation unwinding year after year it goes its own way and it gets the last say I wish you were still here. I wish you were here.

So when these autumn hills grow cold
every year as I grow old
I bring these flowers to soothe my soul
I come to
spend my time with you
spend my time with you.
